Invitation to CELT Research Study on Students’ Campus Life and Experience (2013/14)

Date:
Monday, 16 September, 2013 (All day)

Background of the Study

The University provides students with a wide range of development programs and learning opportunities in and out of class. Understanding students’ views and experience of their campus life is of crucial importance for the University to improve on its education and policies. In particular, what kinds of university lives do students have while at HKUST? What is their experience in out-of-class activities? What do they learn from these activities? To probe into these issues, the Center for Enhanced Learning and Teaching, on behalf of the University, is going to conduct an in-depth study on students’ campus life and experience.

Highlights of the Study

The study aims to investigate students’ participation and experiences in out-of-class activities and how this affects their learning and development during university education. Below are some highlights of the study:

  • This is a one-year study about your campus life and experience.
  • Each participant will be invited to share with us their lives and experiences at HKUST through interviews and various tools at different points of time in the 2013/14 academic year.
  • In total, each participant will need to spend around 25 hours in a year for the whole study.
  • Each participant will be paid a total of HK$1250 for their participation.

Benefits to Participants

Participation in the study will help participants engage in a self-discovery process to reflect on and explore the learning journey they are going through while at HKUST. Through this process, participants will have the chance to better understand their university experience and hopefully to find ways to improve it.
