Canvas Feature Update - More Tools

A new tool called More Tools is now available in Canvas. Teachers and TAs can access it from the left menu of your Canvas course sites. It consists of two parts, Student Photos & Lists and Discussion Data. The previous Student Photos is now moved inside More Tools.

The Fall 2015-16 term was the last term we had both Canvas and LMES operating at the same time.  As of 19 December 2015 no more courses were created in LMES.  All courses in the coming Spring 2015-16 term will be delivered through Canvas only.

Release of Individual Results for a 3-Year Longitudinal Study (2010-2013)

In Fall 2010, about 400 students were recruited to participate in a 3-year longitudinal study which investigates how student learning and outcomes are affected by assessment and other factors. During the study, participants were invited to complete various questionnaires and tests. Some of them were also randomly selected and invited to share their views in some focus group discussions.

Dear LMES Users,

We are pleased to inform you that there are more new and enhanced features in the LMES now. Here are some highlights:

Messages Tool: With this tool, instructors may communicate with students without going back to their email system. This tool works like an internal messaging system. It allows instructors to send messages to a student or a group of students within a course site. Notification on new messages for different courses will also be shown on user’s home page for a quicker access.

CELT annually invites faculty and teaching staff to propose teaching development projects for their innovative teaching ideas that enhance teaching and learning. With the introduction of the 4-year undergraduate curriculum in 2012, proposals that involve pioneering new or extensively revised courses will be particularly welcomed; including those that focus on inquiry-based learning and capstone experiences.

The applications for the academic year of 2011/2012 has started and will last till end of September 2011.

Release of individual results for Pilot Study on Generic Skills (Summer 2013)

In Summer 2013, CELT organized a Pilot Study on Generic Skills to evaluate the effectiveness of a few instruments which were designed to access creativity, teamwork capability and intercultural competence of students. Near 300 students joined the pilot study. During the study, they were invited to attend a two hour session and complete the following tasks under proctor’s supervision:
