Global Virtual Exchange

We are pleased to announce that the University has joined the Virtual Exchange Alliance, which consists of leading universities around the world, to offer a new Global Virtual Exchange experience to our students. As a member of the Alliance, our students can take the credit-bearing online courses offered by the participating universities. The credits earned may be transferred to HKUST, subject to the prevailing regulations and procedures governing credit transfer.  The Senate has approved at its 136th meeting held on 13 June 2017 that, a maximum of 6 credits earned from online courses can be counted toward the graduation requirement of an undergraduate degree program.

The University will pilot this Global Virtual Exchange program in 2017-18 Spring term with three courses offered by two participating universities.  Details of the program and the three selected courses are provided in the Global Student Programs Office website.

The program is now open for application. Students at Year two or above who would like to take these courses are required to complete the online application form and seek the endorsement from their major departments before the deadline of 8 January 2017 (Monday).
