"Teaching and Learning Development"
The importance of teaching cannot be overstated. Teaching is not merely imparting knowledge to students but rather developing students to become active life-long learners and critical thinkers. Through the use of a variety of teaching strategies and resources, I aim to achieve the following:
- Students should be able to appreciate and apply fundamental concepts and tools learned in the course;
- Students should be active participants in the teaching/learning process;
- Students' critical thinking ability should be enhanced.
The objectives of the course that I teach and my goals are clearly outlined in the course syllabus and reiterated during the class. In order to address the issue of diversity and to encourage active learning, I incorporate lectures, small group activities, open discussions, and case studies and analysis in my class discussions. Furthermore, Group projects assigned in the course not only allow the synthesis and reflection of the concepts learned in the course but also help the students build camaraderie, network support, leadership skills, and appreciation of the practicality of the concepts learned in the course. All these activities allow students to hone their oral and written communication skills.
