In this seminar, Professor WOO has walked through his journey with the audience of implementing experiential learning in a traditional UG engineering course and a summer camp for high-school students.  He also shared how to implement active learning methods to engage engineering students, how to create the conditions and context that simulates learning, good practices in assessment, and ways to cultivate students’ holistic development through experiential learning education.

 

About the Speaker:

Prof. WOO Kam Tim is passionate about engineering education. He is the founding director of Center for Global & Community Engagement at School of Engineering and Associate Professor of Engineering Education of Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, HKUST. He encourages students to apply engineering knowledge creatively in the design competitions. He also builds a cooperative platform for students and faculty, community organizations and corporate partners to exchange ideas and share experience on how engineering can serve the community. He adopts a student-centered approach in cultivating student learning through student design competitions and community service. Prof WOO is a recipient of the UGC Teaching Award 2015 and the School of Engineering Teaching Excellence Appreciation Award 2009 -10.
