Preparing and Teaching an Online Course on the ‘Coursera’ Platform

In this seminar, the speaker shared the experience of preparing and teaching an online course on the ‘Coursera’ platform and discussed the preparations involved in delivering an online course, including the required commitment of time and effort, and review the main differences between teaching an online course and teaching a regular face-to-face course. The speaker also briefly discussed how teaching on the ‘Coursera’ platform fits in with a new, innovative model of teaching—namely, the ‘flipped classroom’ and its local applicability, particularly at HKUST. Finally, the speaker shared with the audience some ideas about how to maximize the prospects for success with a course delivered online.
