Prof Jacobson is the former member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Accreditation Board. In this seminar, Prof Jacobson will address the following issues:
- Development of a continuous quality improvement system to enhance engineering education and the methodology to identify areas of curricular and co-curricular content needing modification;
- Advantages of an outcome-based system in meeting the educational objectives of the programme consistent with the mission of the university;
- Examples of measurement tools, data collection techniques, and feedback mechanisms;
- Differences between programme outcomes and course outcomes, along with development of an understanding of the types of evaluation and grading that are appropriate for each; and
- A plan to meet accreditation evaluation under an outcome-based system.
