Using the Learning Commons as a Support and Facility for Blended Learning

The speakers has presnted on the HKUST Learning Commons which supports blended learning in multiple facets: face-to-face instruction, online learning as well as social interactions. The speakers also explained how instructors can explore a lot of possibilities, using the flexibility and diversity of the Learning Commons space and services. For example, instructors may produce eLearning objects at the Creative Media Zone; course designers may organize out-of-classroom sessions such as tutorials, meeting counselors, course advisors, meeting artists, and alike; student projects may be produced, displayed and celebrated at the Learning Commons to round up the learning cycle. Finally, specakers also showed how the Learning Commons can help students develop academic skills such as information literacy, media literacy and presentation skills.
