Abstract
In this seminar, Professor Irwin King, Principal Investigator of KEEP, has walked the participants through the platform, introduced its major features, and shared on how KEEP showcases innovative technologies in education.
In the second part of the seminar, Prof. T.C. Pong gave an update on the development of a Hong Kong MOOC platform and the learning analytics tools being developed on the platform.
About the Speakers
Professor Irwin King is the Associate Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Engineering and Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also the Director of Rich Media Big Data Analytics and Application Key Laboratory at the Shenzhen Research Institute. His research interests include machine learning, social computing, Big Data, data mining, and multimedia information processing. Recently, Prof. King has been an evangelist in the use of education technologies in eLearning for the betterment of teaching and learning.
Professor Ting-Chuen Pong is the Director of the Center for Engineering Education Innovation, Senior Advisor to the Executive Vice-President & Provost and Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at HKUST. He is one of the founding faculty members of HKUST, where he served as the Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean of Engineering and Director of the Sino Software Research Institute. He also served as an Academic Research Adviser for the Hong Kong University Grants Committee (UGC) from 2010 to 2012. Before joining HKUST, he was an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Minnesota – Minneapolis in the US.
